5 Minute Stovetop German Chocolate Cake Frosting

Servings 9 people


  • 1 can Evaporated Milk
  • 1 bag Sweetened Shredded Coconut
  • 2 cups Toasted chopped pecans or walnuts
  • 3 whole Egg Whites
  • 2 sticks Butter
  • 1 pinch Kosher Salt
  • 1 tbsp Vanilla Extract
  • 1 cup Light Brown Sugar (not packed)


  • Here's how you do it! Give your nuts a rough chop and put them in the frying pan over medium heat. Shake the pan until you smell thenuts or see them brown and then remove them from the heat and reserve in a dishfor later.
  • Combine butter, evaporated milk, vanilla, egg yolks andbrown sugar in your pan and cook over low heat until thick and creamy.
  • Stir in nuts and coconut
  • Remove from heat
  • Frost your Beautiful cake! I sprinkled a tiny pinch ofkosher salt over the top of the cake for good measure, but thats just me 😉
  • Itwas the easiest and most delicious frosting I have ever made!
